can't reinstall xp

I am trying to reinstall xp home addition because I lost some programs and
get a message that the version intalled is newer than the one I am
installing.It is the original copy that came on the pc.I was wondering if it
is because of the "service pack " installed later.Any help?Thanks

Hi ... That is why ( services pack ) What you should do is slipstream your
original xp copy with service pack 2 , This will explain how its done

Service pack 2 actually upgrades your Home XP - If control panel is
accessible you may be able to remove SP2.
