Can't reinstall XP Pro

I have a dell laptop, about 18 months old. Been using McAfee pro for anti-virus, all up to date. The OS got buggy, so I pulled out the OEM XP Pro reinstall disc to clean things up. Well, now the laptop is stuck. When I go to activate windows, It locks up. Can't open in safe mode, it locks up. Tried a Mcafee rescue disc, it locks up. Tried an MS-DOS boot disc, can't do a thing. How can I start the reinstall over? How can I get to a restore point if I can't get into windows

I would recommed just wiping the system out and do a
fresh install. It should boot off the CD by default, and
select that you do not wish to repair a prior install.
