Can't reinstall or uninstall IE 6

I'm having a problem with Internet Explorer and I figure the best way to fix
it is to simply uninstall it and then reinstall it. The problem other than
the fact it won't let me uninstall or reinstall is that the web pages I go to
won't appear correctly. Like images aren't showing when another computer
that I have allows them to show and also the biggest thing was that I wasn't
able to download the Realplayer software from www.real.com because it kept
saying "Page Cannot Be Displayed." Real.com isn't the only website where I
couldn't view a site properly so I'm thinking a program that I've installed
in the past has messed up something in Internet Explorer. I hope whoever
reads this can understand what I'm trying to say and give me a simple
solution to my problem because I don't want to format my hard drive and
reinstall everything again from scratch. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi Speedy Brewskie :)

You don't mention what version of Windows or IE you are using (i.e. SP2 or
SP2)

If you are using XP, you can not uninstall IE, it is a core part of the
program, and it will only allow you to repair or reinstall.

Zone Alarm Pro can block Images in IE:

1. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom level>reset custom
level to Medium or Low

2. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>set the slider to Medium or Low

3. Go to this site and read on adjusting the Privacy settings in ZA. It will
explain how to customize on a per site basis.

also...for real.com, not sure the following will help but you might check it

Check for a file named HOSTS with no extension (not Hosts.sam). It may be a
hidden file. Open it with Notepad and remove any line referencing the site.
Or, rename HOSTS to OLDHOSTS

Hope this helps

Sorry about that my fault. I have Windows XP SP2, I go to Windows Update
frequently so everything is up-to-date. As far as the suggestion about Zone
Alarm I don't have that. There has to be a way to uninstall IE 6 to
reinstall it. I've tried reinstalling and it just won't work. Thanks for
the help.

Reinstalling probably will not fix the problem, but:

XP

Make sure your anti-virus is turned off.
The section
Windows XP and Windows XP SP1: Edit the registry and install Internet
Explorer 6
works on earlier versions of Windows.
If you are using WinXP SP2 you will have to uninstall that first.
