cant read backup dbx files

Can anyone help please. I copied over to a cd what I hope are my old emails (outlook express). They appear as dbx files on the cd and I have NO IDEA how to read them through my present outlook express. It is quite urgent now and if anyone has the answer or needs more information to help please just ask. Thank you
