can't reach google.com from work but others can

If I'm at home (comcast) I can reach google.com just fine. If I'm at
work or using the VPN client I cannot reach google.com from a web
browser (either IE or firefox) by name, but can by IP address. from a
command prompt I can resolve google.com via DNS. I can also telnet to
port 80. I've tried dns flush and IE setting to no success. All other
sites seem to work fine.... this is driving me nuts.

You should be able to restore your ability to surf the Internet while
connected to the VPN server by clearing the Use default gateway on remote
network check box on the VPN client connection. This may or may not affect
your ability to connect to resources on your work network beyond the VPN
server. See:
