I have tried twice to post a question here but the forum is not accepting the messages, or at least they haven't showed up yet, and one was sent yesterday, the other several hours ago.

So I guess this is a TEST. My initial problem was/is with spontaneous re-booting of XP Pro, but I won't go into that until I can GET ON THE LIST! It takes too long to write it all out again and again...

Thanks. Yes, I see I did get on the list. I also found my prior post, but nobody has replied to it yet. I'm having serious and weird problems and it's frustrating that I can't get responses. My system re-booted "spontaneously," system restore left me with no shortcuts on the "quick start" part of system tray and I can't drag stuff back down there... etc. All this is related in time, if not otherwise. Most frustrating is that my ability to use Outlook to post to this list is defunct and thumbing through this extremely high-volume list is slow (dial-up) and hard...

Is Quick Launch enabled? Right click the taskbar » go to toolbars » click on Quick Launch..

Outlook is not a newsreader, Outlook Express is. Right click on the Outlook Express icon » select properties » add " /outnews" to the line "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" so that it now reads "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /outnews » the icon will now open the newsreader.

Yes and thank you. Fixed that, leaving the question of why system restore
didn't "restore" things they way they were. I had to re-activate Quick
Launch.

And I meant Outlook Express, not Outlook. I can read here now, but the last
time I tried I couldn't get my replies to the list. This try will tell if I
still have that problem.

I'm having same problems (posting and spontaneous restarts, except mine is with XP Home

My computer spontaneous restarts were caused by a phono preamp powered by USB which was loading the computer power supply

Tried to find my original posting to add what I found that fixed the problem but with no luck

Hi, Lloyd. Since you are using the web interface, you may not realize
that this is really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this
resource if you learn to use a newsreader. There are many good
newsreaders for Windows, but you can use Outlook Express since you
already have it. Here are some links to information about newsgroups to
broaden your posting pleasure!
