Cant play movies

Borrox

Hi

Just noticed this the other day. I wanted to play an ECD and see the extra
stuff so I went through the normal way to play it, Windows Media Player came
up and that was it even though I have a GeForce 6600 256Mb card recently
fitted. The system went on a go slow forcing me to reboot. I tried again and
the same happened.
I have been able to play DVD films before the new video card but for some
reason stopped playing them. I have re-downloaded and re-installed Windows
Media Player 10 and get the same result.
What could be causing this to happen when there was nothing done to really
warrant this behaviour?
Many thanks
Nig

It might just be the DVD you tried to play. Have you tried a movie that
worked in the past?

I have tried lots of DVD's and VCD's and all try to open with Windows Media
Player 10 and locks up.

Hi Nig. WMP 10 is more M$ bloatware.
Go to this site and D\load MPC, it`ll do what you want, without bothering
with codecs (they`re already in ).

Hi
Downloaded MPC and makes no difference. I made sure I had the latest drivers
for the card as soon as I had finished installing the supplied drivers etc.

Have a look in your Event Viewer for any errors\warnings.
I`m running out of ideas.

Hi OJ

I have completely uninstalled, my vid card, Realplayer, Windows Media Player
and any other media players that were installed and started from scratch,
one at a time. I do not know why, all seems to be back to normal with only
one thing different. No Windows Media Player. I suppose that says the lot
really.

Many thanks

Nig
