What is the purpose in using a 3rd party driver instead of ATI or card
manufacturer's drivers? Curious if you see any performance increase using
3DMark2001SE benchmark. Otherwise, why bother?

If you are overclocking the card it could be overheating as you play. Heat
buildup happens over time and the compact HP case may require extra
ventilation/cooling anyway. Also, if you are using custom video hardware
settings they may be incompatible.
