I'm using a WRT54GS (Alchemy firmware), and 2 computers, one with XPSP1, and
another with XPSP2, neither of them have a firewall, but on the one with SP2
(192.168.1.100) I can ping the one with SP1 (192.168.1.103) just fine, but it
doesn't work the other way around. Both computers have access to the
internet, and are configured to access work group 'MSHOME', the one with SP1
installed sees only itself, the one with SP2 says that it doesn't have
permissions to access MSHOME.

The computer with XP SP2 has Windows Firewall. Is WF disabled, or did you
configure it properly? Make sure that you don't have any other problems too.

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely:

You have a segmented LAN. Neither computer sees the other.

The ping command is pretty low-level - if both computers are running TCP/IP, the
only thing that will stop a ping is a defective network component, or a personal
firewall.

How about we look at "ipconfig /all" too?
