Can't open more than one browser window

On my work computer, which has XP, as soon as a second
browser window is opened, the first one disappears. This
makes it very hard to navigate through pages that
automatically open links in a new page. Some randomly-
timed popups also cause this, so that if I'm doing online
work and an ad decides to show itself, I am booted away
from my work, the work erased, and I am left staring at
some annoying ad. This is only under my ID on the
computer. The Admin ID is able to open more than one
window. I have already tried unchecking "reuse windows"
under multimedia, so next suggestion please! This means
you, Jim!

Some people have managed to resolve this issue by following these
steps:

Click Start, and then click Run.

In the Open box, type: regsvr32 with the following dll's - e.g:

regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll

Enter each line one by one and you should receive a message if you
have been succesful. Reboot when done.

I have also heard that some ad-blocking programs and Yahoo! Companion
have also been the cause of this problem. Disabling ad-blocking may
sort it out. I had Zone Alarm Pro and Yahoo! Messanger and possibly
Companion running, unfortunately uninstalling them didn't fix the
problem for me. Re-installing XP did!
