For the past 3/4 months I have been unable to open
google. I get diverted to a web site called cPanel which
says there is nothing configured at the google web site
address.
The cPanel website seem to suggest that it is a virus,
but I have downloaded all the updates from the microsoft
website ( I think) and still no joy.
Can anyone help, I would be extremely grateful.

spyware would be the guess or more like a hijacker. go to
safer-networking.org download spybot and then update and
then scan your system for crap. also use the immunize
feature and the block bad pages silently feature. free
antivirus at grisoft.com. (avg)

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to

Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

CUT <

Hi nick, you have to find your "hosts" file (it is a text file,
usually in "C:\windows" directory), open it with a text editor
(notepad) and delete all the entries with cPanel URL. It is a harmless
operation.

It will take 2 minutes. Tell me if it works.
Bye.
