Can't Open Games, E-Mails, Anything with Attachments

I'm unable to open any games or e-mail that are attachments. My IT person at
work says nothing is locked for me to receive e-mail.

Any suggetions? I'm desperate to play crossword puzzles again.
 
Are the attachments to your email executable files? Do you have problems
opening PDF files, Word documents, spreadsheets? Or is it all attachments?

Excatly what happens when you try? What version of Outlook? What type of
account?
