Can't open docs from Outlook into Word or close Word without Eror

Word 2007 has worked great since I installed it some time ago. The past ten
days it started to give me a "Microsoft has stopped working" error every time
I close the application. I am also unable to open a doc attachment from
Outlook. When I double-click on the attachment MS Word opens up but there is
no doc opened. I am also unable to scroll inside a Word doc. I have to
arrow up and down or us the page up or down keys to move around the doc.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the MS Office 2007 but the problem
persists.
