Can't open Access

I have Windows Vista. when I try to open Access from a trial version of
Office professional, I get an error message:

"Windows can't find file C:\Windows\System32\system.mdw"

I also tried opening Access from an Office 97 cd with the same error message.

I'm desperate to get Access since my project is due now.

You can't open Access from a CD. On Vista, the system.mdw file is located in
your User folder, under Microsoft\AppData\Roaming\Access\

If you installed Office, it should be there.
