I have three computers networked thru a router. Two are XP Pro and one is running WIN98. The WIN98 machine works fine. It can see both XP machines and can access shared folders on either XP machine. And, the two XP machines can see the WIN98 machine and access its (WIN98) shared folders. Also, from the WIN98 machine, I can ping both XP machines and get replies. I can also ping the WIN98 machine from either XP machine and get replies. So far so good.
The problem is that the two XP machines can't see each other. When I ping one XP machine from the other, I get the response "Negotiating IP Security" going one way and "Request timed out" going the other. Of course, I can't find either computer by name and therefore cannot share folders. No problem finding the XP machines by name from the WIN98 machine though and vice versa.
I never had networking problems in the two years since I got XP Pro and all of a sudden this starts happening. Is it a result of a recent upgrade? It is now 2:00am and I am at the end of my rope. All XP firewalls are turned off. Any help would be much appreciated.
