Can't Move Photos & Text Boxes

I am having major trouble creating the simplest of flyers in Word & Works
because I can't just click and drag photos or text boxes where I want them.
This used to be so easy on the Mac with Clarisworks/Appleworks. I could
create or insert images and text boxes and lock it so it wouldn't jump around
the page when changes were made. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Hi TerryMac

Word can position things like photos as in-line or floating. An in-line
graphic can't easily be dragged. It just sits there like one very big
character. A floating graphic can be dragged.
