can't move files

Lately I am unable to move newly created Drive Image
backup files. I get the following error message: "The
volume for a file has been externally altered so that the
opened file is no longer valid." I can, however, delete
these files, and I can move other files on my backup
drive. Any idea what's causing this problem and how to fix
it? Please send me an email, as I may never be able to
navigate back to the right place in this newsgroup. Thanks.
