Can't move files on desktop

My PC has suddenly stopped letting me move a file to the bin or anywhere on
the desktop, whets all this about then?

Is your desktop locked? Check by right clicking on your desktop.

When I right click I get the menu that includes properties - does this mean
it's not locked?

Check the options on "Arrange Icons By -->" and see if Lock Web Items on
Desktop has a tick next to it. If so, click on it to remove the tick.

Hmmm, not good. A reboot doesn't help? How about clicking on the desktop
and then hitting F5? Also try ticking Lock Web Items and then unticking it.

Didn't knowingly make any changes, but it all seems back to normal now.

You didn't even reboot or turn the computer off and then later turn it
back on?
