Please explain "Won't let me", is the log off option not available or does
the system hang when you click logoff ?
Whenever you abruptly remove power from a PC, the disk drive will
likely become marked "Dirty" (have inconsistent data). Removing power
prevents XP from flushing data to the drive and closing the Registry hives.
You need to run Chkdsk C: to determine the drive's state. You can do
this from a Command Prompt, by clicking Start, Run (Type) Cmd [Enter]
The cursory (Read-Only) Chkdsk will report if a /F or /R (Fix or Repair)
run of Chkdsk is necessary.
If your PC has a "Reset" button, use that instead of removing power.
