Can't log into XP, I get logged off immediately

Hi, I restarted my computer the other day and it boots up
to the log-in screen as it should. However when I click on
my icon to log-in, it first says loading your personal
settings, and then says logging off, and returns right
back to the log-in screen. You here the log-in windows
sound, and then 3 seconds later the log-off sound. I did
not do anything out of the ordinary before I reset it.
Any ideas for what it could be? or how to fix?
