Can't Load Certain Programs

I bought a home computer with Windows 2000 professional with NT. On some programs I get this message that it will not let me load the program because I am on a network (which i am not). Is there a way to dump the NT portion of the operating system?

If not, how should I upgrade it to XP Home

Windows 2000 IS NT. It is NT 5.0 So is Windows XP it is NT 5.1 You will
need to provide more accurate info before someone can determine what the
problem is.
