Can't install XP Pro

G

Guest

I tried to uprgrade a PC w/ Win 2k to XP Pro. I put in the XP Pro CD and used
the upgrade option. After a restart and selecting the XP option, I got a blue
screen with "windows is starting" at the bottom and then the system hangs.

After an hour of frustration, I backed up all of my important files and
formatted my drive. I changed the bios to boot from cd. The install appears
to run, loads files needed for setup, then.... Same Thing! Blue screen,
"windows is starting" and hang.

A friend suggtested that there is a driver issue so I pulled anything not
necessary for basic PC operation (video card, NIC card, etc..) and retried.
Still the same condition.

I tried my XP Home cd also and get the same result. Any Ideas???

Unfortunately this newsgroup is devoted to peer support for
MS Access the desktop database program not Win XP.

I suggest you plough through the MS newsgroups until you
find the WinXP ones. Folks there should be more than
knowledgable enough to sort out your problems. I have had a
quick scan of my copy of the Win XP Pro Resource Kit
Documentation but it offers no real help with your problem.

Good luck.
