im a very proficient user but for the first time ever i cannot install WORD
on a computer running XP Pro. I have even used 2 different packages that
include WORD on them , everything else installs except WORD itself. Message
says that a CAB file is missing, surely the CAB file should be on the disk as
part of WORD and not in XP itself. Assuming it is an XP problem, and I can
extract the file from an XP disk, where do i extract it TO. But if you also
think the problem is something else, please say so.

What version of Word, and was XP OEM installed? (XP OEM installs have been
known to leave out "stuff")
If the missing cab file is found/identified, and it contains .dlls, the
location to extract to will depend on what the dlls are part of.
..dlls are all over the place on my XP system with Office (and word)
installed.
I'd put the .cab file (once it's identified) in an installer accessable
location (obviously)

You might also want to post to one of the Word newsgroups and specify what
version of Word it is. Here is a list of MS public newsgroups.
