I do have the problem and the solution. I had a copy of the FrontPage 2002
CD on the hard drive drive and the install was detecting a file on the CD as
the sharepoint exe, which it was, but it was not installed. This has been
reported to ms.

The probkem is that I had a copy of the FrontPage 2002 install disc on my
system and there is a file in that uncompressed installation that is being
detected as Sharepoint services or something, which it is, except in my case,
it was not installed.

email me at TOM /AT/ Anteloperidge.net if you want the name of the file and
I will see if I can look for it. I do not have it handy.

I've searched high and low for anything related to sharepoint. Only thing I
have found is MS Office XP with Front Page. I've uninstalled that program
and tried to reinstall Vista without any success. Sounds like to me what you
are saying is even after uninstalling the entire MS Office product, a file
still remains on my hard drive that is compressed and contains the elusive
sharepoint file.

I had a similar problem when installing Office 2007 over the 2007 Beta's
saying I had another Office Beta product still installed.

I ran the msi cleanup wizard which you can download from microsoft which
cleared up the old installer info which was left behind & which the Office
2007 install was picking up.

After that my install worked without a hitch
