I'm trying to re-installing my Win XP-Pro over the same Win-Pro and upon
installing the Install the CD, it indicates that the installed CD (Win
XP-Pro), version is older than the one I already have on my computer. I have
installed several upgrades from Microsoft Download Center is that why I can't
get the install button to run the CD? I have shut my computer up with the CD
in the CD-RW drive and it will not start to install the software. I have
used the Run and Install software procedures and it will not run the XP from
the CD. What I'm I doing wrong or what it the procedure to install this CD.
It’s new and I own the serial number. I have saved all my files on to a spare
hard drive. Please help and thanks
Luis

To boot to xp cd and reinstall xp,you need to set this in the BIOS,boot device
priority,or similiar.Once set,boot to xp cd,then select,install xp,new copy
(pref-
fered) or repair this copy.New copy will reformat, repair will wipe out all
up-
dates,but settings stay as is.

You need to slipstream SP 2 into your original XP CD. Follow the link below
