Can't install SQL for BCM 2007

I'm trying to install BCM into Outlook 2007. I'm able to get the Office
package working and updated to TR2. However when it starts the install of
BCM the first step is to install. I get two error messages indicating
failure to install and it refers me to the SQL log. Here's a copy of the
most recent SQL install log. I've been completely through these pages and
tried everything including a full removal all the way down into the registry.
Same error message persists on install of BCM. Any ideas???? Thanks,
Rusty.

It looks like the sql install can't access a file. If you've eliminated
obvious problems (e.g. out of disk space, permission issues), I would
try installing sql express 2005 directly from microsoft.com. If that's
successful, then BCM Setup should just create it's sql instance, and
skip the sql installation part.

Thanks Luther,

I've been completely through the standard cleanup stuff and the machine is
solid. Haven't had any other troubles with it at all. Even removed some
programs that might have a component of SQL in them. I was just looking at
direct install of SQL Express and will give that a try later today. Thanks
for the reply and suggestion. If that doesn't work---I might try to load it

Just tried the direct install of SQL Express---same error message pops up.
I'll try on another machine just to make sure it's machine specific---I think
it is. But either way---I need to get it running on this machine. Anybody
out there with SQL experience who can tell me where to go on this install???

How do I mark this one as closed? I went ahead and formatted the machine and
then reinstalled---everything is working fine now. Thanks to Luther for his
attention here.

I'm guessing I had another program that installed some portion of SQL Server
(perhaps an old trial version of ACT) and that wouldn't allow me to install
SQL Express.

Have a great day, Rusty

These threads can't be closed. :)

I do have a procedure posted on my site (as I previously posted it here)
that details how to deal with SQL-related errors.

Good luck with BCM 2007!

Thanks for the input, Leonid. I had already tried your procedure without
success. Ended up formatting the unit and starting over---something was
corrupt from an old SQL Installation--probably related to ACT! and the final
resolution was a clean start.
