Can't install MS04-11 835732 patch on W2K

I have tried to install the MS04-11 patch also known as KB835732 on my
Windows 2000 server SP4. I tried this after a clean install and then loading
SP4. I have tried manually using Windows Update and here is the message I
get:

KB835732 Setup could not backup registry key
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\System\Kerberos to file
C:\WINNT\$nuninstallkb835732$\reg00003 1314: A required privilege is not
held by the client

Any idea why this won't install? I have 5 others along with it but this is
the one I worry the most about not having.

Hi,

Can you make sure that you are logged on with administrator account (or
account that has administrator privileges or local computer).

Sorry, forgot to mention that I was logged in as administrator when the
patches were applied.

Can you try and reboot the computer first and install the patch after the
reboot. One of system processes could have locked the registry and prevent
it from being backed up.

Thanks to all but I have all the patches installed now. I had some other
patches that did not get installed and it would seem that this one is
dependent on the others being installed first. So I installed all the
patches one at a time starting with the lowest number rebooting if
instructed to before install additional patches. all seems fine now. Thanks.
