Hi,
When I try to install any program (setup.exe, install.exe) then setup starts
and immediately exit. When I change name of the file from 'setup.exe' to
'anyfilename.exe' then setup sometimes succeeds sometimes not.
Any ideas?
Regards,
Peter

Can you give us a bit more information about the machine and its history
so we can focus the troubleshooting?

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the
malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what
programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?

Be sure the computer is clean:

Hi,
I check my computer with avg, ad-aware, avast antivirus, norton
scanner online.
There is no virus, I remove other spyware/malware but problem still
exists.
When I run windows in safe mode - there is ok. I also run SilentRunner
and
check msconfig.I will give up,
Thanks for your time,
Regards,
Peter

So we know the machine had malware (and I don't know what "I remove
other spyware/malware" entails and what you had) and may still not be
clean in spite of what you ran because I don't know your methods or what
you had/have. Since I can't see your computer, I can't be certain. You
could run HijackThis and post your log to one of the specialty forums
below (and not here, please).

You also didn't answer the First Question - presumably you were at one
time able to install sofware. What changed between the time you were
able to do this and the time you weren't? Remember that we can't see
your computer from here and you have to be descriptive.

As a WAG, perhaps you have some security software installed that
prevents you from installing programs. I've seen corporate antivirus
programs that would do that. Or else the machine isn't clean.
