Can't import audio files

I can't seem to import any audio tracks from either a cd or mp3. wav or other
types of audio file
 
After i imported my digital pictures,added them to the time line I tried to
import audio files by going to the import audio/music. I went to my music but
there are no music files even though i downloaded a bunch into that folder.
I also tried to import from Media player, but is says that the music file is
not supported by the movie maker. I tried Audio CD file, mp3,wav, wma, Also I
tried to go to the file window and selected import. Neither are working. I
also tried to import from a Music CD. I think my version is bad. I can't
figure it out.
