Can't hide connection icon......

I’m a new convert to Win XP Pro. I’ve just upgraded the first of four
systems here in the house and have a minor annoyance I can’t seem to
fix. There’s a commincations-type icon in the lower RH corner of the
screen that tells me (hover) that the 1394 connection speed is 400 mbps
and that the connection is fine. I”d like to rid my screen of this icon!

There’s an option under (Right Click Taskbar/Properties/Customize/1394
Connection…etc.) that says I should be able to “Always HIDE this”, and I
set it to that, but it keeps coming back!!

I KNOW it’s a nit, and in the grand scheme of things won’t make much
difference, but I’d REALLY like to find out why the “always hide” fails.

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks.

"Always Hide" isn't priority to a notification. Untick "Notify me when this
connection has limited or no connectivity" in "connection properties" or
remove the icon completely from the taskbar by removing the tick from "Show
icon in notificaiton area when connected."

Control Panel > Network Connections > right click on connection, select
properties and under "General" tab you'll see the two input boxes.

That did it. Thanks Jon.
