I'm using Sandisk or Memorex USB "keychain" units. The
computer sees them and I can store things and erase things
what I can't see to get it to do is "give it up", so to
speak. When I try to unplug or eject I get the message,"
Device 'generic volume' cannot be stopped right now. Try
stopping the device again later. I have just pulled the
thing out and the information on it was intact. I can
also wait until the unit is shut down and only then does
the access light go off on either unit. It didn't always
work this way. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

You cannot have any files/folders open on the drive when
you try to eject the media.
Make sure there are no running processes associated with
the drive (check the Task Manager).
