Can't get screensaver to activate

Have an XP PC. Have the screensaver set for 780 minutes
with a 3d screen selected. The screen goes blank in 5
minutes with a blank screen. Does anybody have any help
on what to do to make it take affect? Thanks in advance
for your help.
 
Check your power options from control panel. Sounds like your monitor is set
to power off after 5 minutes.
