can't get rid of linux partitions in xp

Fooled around putting kubuntu on a separate partition, using linux boot
loader to let me choose between my xp home edition, which was on the
computer, and the new linux os. Now I want my space back and Windows doesn't
recognize the partitioning. Only things I have are LiveCD of the Kbuntu
installation and my xp cd. Any help?

Delete partiton that Linux is on and recreate as extended logical drive and
format it with NTFS. To get rid of the boot loader from the MBR just use a
Win98 boot disk and type fdsk /mbr

Yes! I did this, couldn't boot at all.
Fortunately I'd installed Partition Magic and its utility Boot Magic, then
made a BM Rescue Disc and that saved me.

I've just removed some Linux distros (had 4!) using Cute Partition Manager
booted from the FDD. Print or note the instructions for CPM; also it's not
fully intuitive - I had to Save to make the changes stick.

PartedMagic can also be used from boot on a CD to close up the spaces etc.

Does any one know how to boot XP after deleting Linux and without
BootMagic?

Got my answers, thanks to all, in this and in one of the linux newsgroups. I
was able to find "gparted live cd" so I could delete the linux partitions
and expand my xp partition to fill the void left. However, then I couldn't
boot xp, nor anything at that point. I had tried to use the repair function
on my xp cd, but it asked for an admin password, and I don't even remember
using one. I couldn't go any further. So once again i had to use my kubuntu
live cd to reinstall linux so i could boot into xp. Then the answer was
suggested, so I booted into xp safe mode, was able to see my admin button,
logged in as admin and set a password. Now when I booted into xp's recovery
console, my admin pw worked and i got a c: prompt. All I had to do then was
to use gparted to once again get rid of the linux partition, expaned xp to
fill, did my recovery console thing again and typed "fixmbr" at the C:
prompt, and voila! Experiment over.

Bollocks. I've done it loads of times.

Then boot to XP disk, run recovery console and type fixboot and fix /mbr, or
something like that. I'm fairly sure I have ran fdsk /mbr on XP drive with
no issues. It's been a while though as now when I run Linux I use mobile
racks instead. Well, I've given up on Linux since a few days ago because it
can't handle a simple thing like swapping video cards without causing grief.
In XP and Vista that is a five minute operation and in Linux it is a cluster
****. I changed video cards on Linux and Vista twice in alst two weeks and
twice on XP too. I don't need the exttra aggro when XP and Vista does
eveything I need.

Thanks, I knew my memory wasn't that faulty.
