Can't get rid of Frontpage folder

B

Bob Davis

At one time I had Frontpage installed as a part of Office 2002, but it has
been uninstalled for months. I have the following folders and subs in my
Program Files folder that I can't get rid of: Microsoft
Frontpage\version3.0\bin. There are no files in any of the three folders
and there is no mention of Frontpage or any of these folders anywhere in the
registry, but they are impossible to delete.

Under properties they are all marked as Read Only, but when I uncheck this
attribute and Apply, then re-enter Properties, the Read Only attribute has
been mysteriously rechecked. When I boot into safe mode I can delete the
folders, but they reappear when I boot back into normal mode. I simply
can't get rid of them. I assume some DLL or other file associated with
Frontpage is running at start-up, but I don't have a clue what to look for.
Can anyone help?

They actually have nothing to do with the fact that you had frontpage
installed.
You would have had them anyway. They are part of a default XP installation.
If you delete them XP will simply re-create them. They are harmless and take
up
no space, so just leave them alone and don't let them bother you.

Agreed. Nothing to fret about. However, they do take up _some_ space, as
each folder name is also a filename which takes up an allocation unit.
So, for three folders, he's losing about, assuming in NTFS, about 12K in
hard drive space :)
