What do you mean by removable disc?. This includes USB flash drives (which
are plug and play so should work straight off using Windows XP) and external
hard disk drives in a USB case (which will need formatting like any other
hard disk drive before you can use it). Have you tried your 'removable disc'
on another computer? Has it ever worked for you? Could it be faulty?

yes it is a USB port kind of removeable disc and it did work on my old
computer that is how i got stuff stored on it. i just got this computer a
couple of months ago and haven't been able to get it to work. this computer
is 10 x's more capable of doing things than my old one. i don't remember
ever having to format the removeable disc on my old one. i just don't know
how to get it to work.

If it is a USB flash memory drive then it doesn't need formatting. Have you
tried plugging it in to the USB ports at the back of your computer, and not
just the front? Have you tried this USB flash memory drive on another
computer, very recently, to confirm that the drive is still working? Have
you tried another USB device plugged in your new PC to conform that the USB
ports are working?

yes, i have tried it in all the USB drives on the front, back, and side of my
computer. i haven't tried it in another computer. the USB drives on my
computer work for everything else i plug into them except for this removeable
disc. i don't know anyone with a computer that i can check it on. i just
moved into town here. i have only used the disc two or three times i don't
understand why it wouldn't work. it is just like brand new

I think you need to try this USB drive on another computer because if it has
developed a fault that would explain why you are having this problem. Like
any other electronic device it can pack up at anytime. Sounds like a good
opportunity to get to know some of your neighbours. Alternatively, if there
is a computer store in town I am sure they would not mind you trying it in
one of their PCs. Good luck.
