I am trying to run a program which I have downloaded to
set up a website. This arrived in a zipped file and I
have already extracted the program and placed it on the
desktop. Everytime I double click on the file I get a
window up saying `INVALID COMMAND-LINE PARAMETERS. UNABLE
TO CONTINUE` This program will run ok on Windows ME,
Windows 2000 and Windows 98 but it just wont run on
Windows XP for some reason. Unfortunately I have none of
these alternative operating systems to choose from. Can
anybody tell me how to overcome this problem on XP?

Well it would help if you told us:

1) ... The *name* of the program
2) ... Where you downloaded it (so we can get some background)

If it's looking for command line parameters, then my guess is that if
you run it from the command line (DOS box) like this:

<filename> /?

It *may* give you a list of accepted options.

But without more info, it's difficult to be more help.

Contact the maker of the program. If you're just looking for a free,
easy way to make a simple website, Mozilla's Composer is good.

Ian,

Right click the shortcut for the program and select Properties. Go to the
Compatibility tab and see if one of the options there will allow it to run.
