Can't get past BCM start up wizard (won't migrate database)

I have had BCM installed for a long time, but did not use it much because it
was not working properly (but that is another issue), and had some automatic
updates installed for BCM recently, but I did not pay attention to what they
did...until today, when I went to look for my BCM folder, and could not find
it!
I reinstalled BCM 2003 from the CD, and still nothing, but found that
Outlook had disabled it...after re-starting, I got to the BCM startup
wizard...
From there, at the screen entitled "Create or select a BCM database" I tried
to 'Select a database', hoping that the one listed contained my old BCM
contacts that seem to have been lost...then duly clicked on 'connect' then
'next', and was told that I need to upgrade my BCM database...so, I select
'yes', then click 'next', and it tells me it is 'backing up before upgrade',
and then I receive an error message: "Data migration was unsuccesful".
So, in frustration, and desperation, I decide to create a new database and
bite the bullet that my old contacts have been lost, so I go back, and select
this option, and give a name to the new database:
"MSBusinessContactManager2", then click "next" but end up being brought back
to this page, and asked to create a new database, so I now have
"MSBusinessContactManager3", and after this happening again, I am not
prompted to create "MSBusinessContactManager4", ad infinitum...
Can anyone help??

Hi

Go to add/remove programs Uninstall BCM and MSDE.Once this is done go to
C:\Program files\MSSQL Server
and rename it to MSSQL ServerOld

Then reinstall BCM
