Can't Get Mail From Linux Server

R

rd

My IT department has been trying to help me set up an IMAP
account so I can access my mail from home. So far,
nothing has worked. We run a LINUX server and the
administrator claims that IMAP works fine when using
Nestscape products but not Microsoft. He claims that
Outlook does not implement SSL correctly. Does anyone
know of any issues setting up an IMAP account to access
mail from a LINUX server?

Ask your Linux admin *which* IMAP server he's using and what version. It's
likely UW-IMAP but could also be dovecot. Both have support mailing lists.
(UW's is called (confusingly) c-client.) You may also find help in the
comp.mail.imap newsgroup.

(I use Cyrusoft Mulberry for my IMAP client, so can't help further with
this one. Mulberry is to IMAP clients what Outlook is to Exchange clients.
Ie. best of breed.)
