Can't force a reboot.

I need to script a forced reboot that will occur when certain conditions
are meet. I tried to use "shutdown -r -f", but it would only shutdown
Windows to the point where it says "Saving System Settings...", and then
just it hangs there and never progresses past that point.

I need a method that will actually force a reboot. Is there something else
that I can try?

I'm using XP Media Center SP3.

Why do you need the reboot?

There is some kind of irreconcilable problem with my dialup internet
connection software. It will sometimes hang, to such a degree that a reboot
is the only cure.

I should note that this inability to reboot also occurs at the same point
in the shutdown process if I try to use the regular GUI reboot tab.

Whatever problem caused the loss of internet connection and the complete
lockup of the dialer software is also preventing the proper shutdown of
Windows.
