How

I have spent hours trying to find how to disable the
description windows that pop-up when I hover my cursor
over icons in the system tray. For example: I hover my
icon over the Norton Icon and a little yellow window pops
up telling me "Norton Antivirus Auto Protect Enabled". I
don't want or need these windows. They are just and
annoyance. I have all the file pop up descriptions and
balloon tips turned off but can't find this. Thanks in
advance.

Have you ever thought about not hovering your mouse over
it? It won't pop up unless you keep your cursor on it..
I don't think there is an actual way to turn it off
anyway, thus, keep your cursor on your desktop.

Doesn't work and for the idiot who said not to hover the
cursor get real. If you don't have anything constructive
to add don't say anything.

AFAIK it is not possible. At least, a lot of people have been looking
for two years now and have not come up with a method - there are other
popup tips you can disable, but not those.
