I deleted an old e-mail account, and in doing so seem to have lost all my
contacts and calendar information. I have been reading through various posts
about what to do, and located my outlook data, but there is no .pst file,
only a .ost file...can I use this??

OST files are offline "mirror copies" of an Exchange mailbox and should not
be used if you don't have a connection to the Exchange server any more. If
you used to connect to an Exchange server & sync your mailbox to your local
computer's OST file, but don't have access to it anymore, you will probably
need to get out your wallet...

There may be other options that don't cost as much - google for "ost to pst"

If you still have access to the Exchange server/mailbox, you can just
reconnect to it & let it resync, by creating a new account in your profile.

PST files are what you ought to be using, when you don't have Exchange.
