Can't find Outlook 2003 on list of available default e-mail progra

My problem is similar to some of the posts here - I am able to run Outlook
2003 with no problems on Vista Home Premium w/ SP1), except when I go to set
it as the default e-mail program (the default is currently Windows Mail),
Outlook 2003 does not appear on the list of programs - how can I get Outlook
2003 on this list so I can set it as the default program?

You might try start outlook 1 time with the /regserver command line switch.
(Note: You may have do to this under an elevated admin account or turn off
UAC.)

Thanks - can you tell me exactly how I would go about doing this?

To turn off UAC
1.. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2.. In Control Panel, click User Accounts.

3.. In the User Accounts window, click User Accounts.

4.. In the User Accounts tasks window, click Turn User Account Control on
or off.

5.. If UAC is currently configured in Admin Approval Mode, the User
Account Control message appears. Click Continue.

6.. Clear the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer
check box, and then click OK.

7.. Click Restart Now to apply the change right away, or click Restart
Later and close the User Accounts tasks window.



After you have turned off UAC and rebooted, then you should be able to
select start > run > type: outlook.exe /regserver > OK button. This is the
point you check to see if you can set Outlook as the default mail client.
If you can do so and then turn UAC on and reboot.
