Hi,

I can't seem to find "iexplore.exe" on a couple of my W2K servers. I am
able to browse the internet just fine. When I look at the target location
for IE in all programs, it shows me that the target location is c:\program
files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe. But, as I said - it's not there? I
even checked from a command line to find the file.

I need to be able to locate this file to publish IE from a Citrix server.

Thanks for any help.

You obviously did not look hard enough: If your can browese
the Internet with Internet Explorer then the file must be on your
hard disk, even if you cannot find it in the location suggested by
some of your shortcuts! Have a look at this location in the registry -
it might contain some revealing information:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\IEXPLORE.EXE

You could also find it from the Command Prompt with this command:

dir c:\iexplore.* /s /ah

Your third option is to use the inbuilt search tool:
Click Start / Search / Files or Folders / iexplore.exe

Thanks for your help but telling me that "I didn't look hard enough" is not a
good choice of words...maybe I looked hard but ran out of ideas. Isn't that
way this form is for?

I tried your third option and the only result found was under "c:\program
files\citrix\system32". I can not execute IE from there...

OK, I could have suggested instead that you should use the
standard inbuilt Windows search function. It's at the top level
in the Start Menu, right next to the Help function. This forum
is a great place to resolve problems that cannot easily be
resolved by using the standard Windows functions. It does
not replace those functions.

Your response opens up a few additional questions, e.g.
- Why can't your execute iexplore.exe from "c:\program
files\citrix\system32"?
- Where is the file on your other PCs that do not use Citrix?
- What prevents you from copying the file to the folder where
it is on other PCs?

The idea of looking in the registry for iexplore.exe will show you where it is. That is a common method used to find
spyware. When there is no path in the registry to the file then it is in your path.
