why is it that windows desktop search doesn't catalog MDB or ADP files?

i mean.. seriously..

make your tools consistent; respect access-- anything that you let
people do with excel or word documents-- treat access exactly the same

why doesn't microsoft respect access?

MS Acess (*.MDB, *.ADP) is not meant for average users, who have no idea
what database is and/or have not desire/need to learn how to create a
database. This is why MS Access is not included in MS Standard/Basic
Edition.

i dont agree with that

people use access all the time. ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the time.

it is a travesty that Microsoft treats it like a red-headed stepchild.
i mean.. you can't email them.. you can't upload them to sharepoint.
you can't even search for file names ending in MDB using Windows
desktop search??

WTF?

this company is on crack

make it work for every office file format; for starters

that means ACCESS, PUBLISHER, PROJECT, VISIO.. EVERYTHING

and just for the record.. novice users-- every novice user in the
world-- SHOULD learn Access.

databases are what makes the world go around; and our society is
currently infected with Excel too much.

TOO MANY SPREADSHEET QUEENS AND NOT ENOUGH DATABASE STUDS.

do you know why?

because Microsoft doesn't treat Access like a full-fledged member of
the Office family.

Access _SHOULD_ be included with every version of office.
it's not my fault that some PM at MS doesn't know jack shit about
marketing.

My machine searchs them just fine. I hardly every do not know where I put
them though.
It is the E-mail program that is afraid of Access. Just rename the
extention and e-mail with directions for the receiver to rename it.

well does it search through it and give you the name of a query?

finding access databases by filename would be a good place to start; i
couldn't get my windows desktop search to do that

just drives me crazy sometimes

all i need to know is which of these 50 MDBs has a module or form named
chapter
