Since about a week ago I have lost the ability to exit out
of IE 6.0 the normal way. I click on the X or go to file
and click on exit and all I hear is a bell tone. I have
to type Control Alt Delete and use task manager to close
IE6. Weird ! ! ! My Operating system is Win2K. Anyone
have a solution?

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim

What happens if you press Alt + F4 to get out of IE 6.0?

Tim,

I was having the same problem ie6 and windowsxp. I was
also getting the 100% cpu usuage with iexplore.exe being
95 plus % of the 100.

I downloaded mozilla 1.6 at www.mozilla.org and made it
my default browser. It works great!

The parasite is still in your computer.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
