can't enable graphics card

I recently installed a 3Dgraphics card and monitor,
replacing a basic graphics card and a monitor that was so
old it couldn't display over 60Hz

Everything seemed to go according to plan until I
restarted my PC and the screen goes blank when windows
loads. The only way round this is to restart in safe mode
and disable the graphics card, then restart. This leaves
me no better off than before I bought the new stuff.

I've checked all the obvious things, the drivers are up
to date etc, the support team for the graphics card
aren't helping and Windows Help and Support Centre
doesn't help either

any ideas???
much appreciated

Nice dose of sarcasm there!
my apologies - I guess I was hoping the problem might be
something obvious.

The graphics card is only an nVidia Geforce2 MX400 (it
was cheap!) connected to an LG 1510S TFT
