Can't edit message

I have a message I am trying to edit off line even after closing Outllook
several times: With work offline ticked: I keep getting: Can't open this
item. Outlook has already begun transmitting this message!

Is this item in the Outbox? You cannot edit items there. Move it to
the Drafts folder first, then open and edit it.

It won't move either - no error displayed. Usually I can double click on the
message and edit them. There must be something locking the message(s).

- Load Outlook.
- Put Outlook in offline mode (File -> Work Offline, enable).
- Exit Outlook. Don't try moving the item. Just exit Outlook.
- Load Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe").
- Move the item to the Drafts folder (or anywhere other than Outbox).
- Put Outlook in online mode (File -> Work Offline: disable).
- Exit and reload Outlook in its normal mode.

After adding the Size column to the view in the Outbox and/or Drafts
folders, just how big is this e-mail? Does it exceed the maximum size
permitted by your e-mail service provider (ESP)?

The messages must have been sent since I've got messages back - something
wrong with Outlook and microsofts server! So how do I delete them from the
sent folder (can't move to drafts).

I'ts a lot smaller than several I have sent - less than one page of text
with no graphics. Shall try safe mode as off-line mode doesn't work either.

That problem is caused by vodafones type of internet that has ongoing
problems: which they still haven't resolved! Safe mode fixed the problem.
