Hi everybody,

former PC with Windows XP and Outlook: no prob with mails

I now have a Laptop with Vista and try to use Windows Mail. Created my
mail-accounts (POP3) as before but I do get the following message when trying
to download my mails (when there's a amazon-mail in my box):

Konto: 'Oliver', Server: 'pop3.strato.de', Protokoll: POP3, Serverantwort:
'-ERR Connection error', Port: 110, Secure (SSL): Nein, Serverfehler:
0x800CCC90, Fehlernummer: 0x800CCC90

Do I have to configure my firewall?

Anybody got an idea what to do?

Thanx a lot

Oli

Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers.
Uncheck the box for "Log on using Secure Password Authentication."

If that setting was already unchecked, which antivirus are you using?

Hi there,

thanx for the reply, BUT: my provider changed the process for mailing via
smtp explicitely to authentication for better protection of spam...

All the other mails are working perfectly: newsletters, private mails ect.

ONLY the Amazon.de-Mails can't be downloaded

??????

Oli

Sorry, forgot the AntiVirus:

I'm using the Avira Antivirus Premium Security Suite with included Firewall...

Hi there,

yes I tried, and no, it didn't work. Received lots of mails by now - only
amazon.de still won't work

Oli

So that account successfully downloads all emails except emails
sent to you from amazon.de? Very strange! I've never come across
anything like that. Sorry, I don't know what could cause that.

Well,

thanx anyways =)

Contacted the support of my provider, perhaps they have any suggestions.
Tell you when probs been solved...
