All I have to say is that SP2 has brought many bugs most
of them unsuspected. What you might be able to do is
check your internet explorer security settings. Maybe
that'll help...or call Mr.Gates and tell him that his
update sucks. Peace\/

You should post your question to the experts in the windows update
newsgroup:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsupdate

Here are some resources for update issues:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/wufix.htm
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v5Consumer/troubleshoot.aspx?ln=en

From a previous post by Torgeir Bakken:

You could try the steps in this post to try to get WU to work:

http://groups.google.com/[email protected]

If nothing there worked, try the steps in this post:

http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=Osk#[email protected]

If that didn't work either, check that WuWebControlClass is enabled in
Internet Explorer:

Microsoft's pages have a lot of ActiveX code, and this is restricted by
default in the Internet zone's settings under SP2 (for safety at other
sites). Put the http://www.microsoft.com and
http://support.microsoft.com into Trusted sites - at Internet Options,
Security, Highlight Trusted zone and click sites. You will need to
uncheck the box at the bottom referring to secure sites only

You may need to do this for other selected sites, provided you *do*
trust their contents

I am having the same problem, but I can't download files from any website. I
get the error even when I try to download an attachment from Hotmail. I have
tried setting the security and privacy settings to low and have searched
through the control panel for any other settings that might be causing this
but haven't had any luck.

Post a new message. Don't post as a reply to an old thread that's ended.
