Not sure whether this is a Win XP, Internet, or
Excel problem, but
since Win XP Pro w/Media is the OS I'm starting
here.

I get the following error msg when try to download
a CSV file off the web and save to my Excel file.

It keeps downloading into a web page format???

"Microsoft Excel cannot access the file
'http://www.bankonline
banking.org/account/histdownload.asp?"

Any help would be appreciated..........Thanks

Possibly the Webster screwed up, possibly it's another instance of
Internet Explorer doing what it thinks you want instead of what you
actually want.

Anyway, you should be okay if you select Save rather than Open. Make
sure the file name ends in ".csv". After saving, double-click the
file and it should open in Excel.

It doesn't give me that choice. As I said in my
posting, I get the error message and then when I
click on OK, it automatically opens up onto a web
page with all the statement information showing.
No way to save to
Excel.

Try right-clicking on the link. Choose Save Target As or something
similar to a file location on the HD. It should then show a *.csv
file being copied to that location.

Again....There is no choice to select Save or
Open.
Only the error window with an OK or X in the upper
right
hand corner.

I think it has something to do with the download
being
recognized as a pop up (from this site only) but I
tried
add their url into the ok to receive and it didn't
work.
Where else would one go to add this url as OK ?

Try this:

Not prompted to save .csv file after download:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/csvprompt.htm

Thanks Ramesh. I responded to you in the Internet
Explorer general section. But I would like to
leave your answer here as it may be more
appropriate for XP Newusers like me.
Thanks Again, Keep up you good work.
